MetioRITE is a compact, wearable gas detection sticker designed to help steelworkers identify hazardous gas exposure instantly. Worn inside a protective face shield, it gives real-time visual alerts when dangerous gases accumulate around the worker—without relying on electronics, calibration, or guesswork.
Unlike standard gas detectors that require interaction or are mounted far from the worker’s breathing zone, MetioRITE monitors the immediate environment of each individual. When a sticker changes color, it means danger is present—and it's time to leave the area.
What Makes MetioRITE Different from Traditional Gas Detectors
Most gas monitors used in steel manufacturing plants are either fixed in position or require the user to check a small screen. In high-heat, fast-moving environments like steel production, these systems often fail to provide timely warnings.
MetioRITE takes a new approach. The sticker is only 3.25 by 0.6 inches (8 x 1.5 cm) and is applied to the inside of a face shield or helmet. It's always in the worker’s line of sight. There’s no need to pause work or check a device—if gas levels become dangerous, the sticker changes color visibly.
Unlike other detectors, MetioRITE does not require calibration, electricity, or maintenance. It is ready to use out of the box and is sensitive to eight of the most dangerous gases in steel plants, including carbon monoxide, methane, ammonia, and sulfur dioxide.
Easy Application and All-Day Monitoring Without Disruption
Using MetioRITE is simple. At the start of a shift, the worker peels a sticker from its packaging and applies it to the inside of their protective shield. The indicator squares remain visible throughout the shift, automatically changing color as needed.
If one square changes color, it indicates rising gas exposure. If two squares turn red, it signals dangerous accumulation—and the worker must exit the area, follow safety protocols, and report the event.
The sticker is effective for the entire shift and is easily replaced with a new one. It does not obstruct the user’s view and is also designed to be readable by color-blind individuals. The color background and clear "DANGER" text ensure visibility for everyone.
Reliable Detection of the 8 Most Hazardous Industrial Gases
Each sticker uses chemical reagent-coated threads that react to specific gases. These threads absorb ambient air and change color at preset gas concentration thresholds, visible to the naked eye. MetioRITE currently detects:
Ammonia
Benzene
Carbon monoxide
Carbon dioxide
Methane
Oxygen
Nitrogen dioxide
Sulphur dioxide
The dyes used respond at various concentrations (such as 50, 100, 500, or 1000 ppm), giving clear feedback on both buildup and immediate exposure.
With no moving parts and no electronics, MetioRITE is unaffected by electromagnetic interference, heat, or dust. It is reliable even in extreme working conditions like steel plants, where furnaces reach over 1300°C.
Safer Workdays Start with Smarter Detection
Steelworkers are exposed to invisible threats every day—gases that can cause chronic illnesses, respiratory damage, and even cancer. MetioRITE gives these workers a simple, personal tool to identify danger before it causes harm.
This lightweight, low-cost sticker offers a strong advantage over conventional monitors: it stays visible, works instantly, and never needs attention. It’s a practical step forward in workplace safety—one that helps save lives with every shift.
